Advocacy

In 1905, Du Bois and William Trotter organized the Niagara Movement
Our overall goal is to eliminate systemic racism in Canadian society. In Calgary, our objectives are healthcare, education, and the safety & wellbeing of Black people.
We, the Calgary Black Chambers Advocacy Committee, believe in:
1. A strong voice for Black people
Our four core values lead us to support anti-racism efforts by eradicating systemic racism and heightening awareness of Black voices throughout Calgary.
2. The inclusion of Black history in our community
We are advocating for the inclusion of Black history in our community, including our school curriculums.
3. Greater Black representation
We are seeking to increase Black representation seats on boards & committees within organizations that impact the Black community to ensure Black voices are heard.
